Ben-Hekku

The Ben-Hekku are a wizard order originating in the ancient Zwambian Hegemony. Reduced in power by the Twin Cataclysms, the organization nonetheless survived in a diminished state. Originally, the Ben-Hekku were divided into eight cloisters with each cloister focusing on one of the specific forms of arcane magic. In the aftermath of the Twin Cataclysms, only two cloisters remained. The Ben-Hekku Thoth-Ankha focus on the magic of abjuration while the Ben-Hekku Thoth-Horu focus on the magic of divination.

The Ben-Hekku operate the only formal training for wizardry on Oerth at the Isle of Khemi. Graduates of this program often serve with various rulers throughout Oerth.

Cult of the Bloody Tongue

Although only two Ben-Hekku cloisters are known to have survived the Twin Cataclysms, rumors exist that a third school of necromancy, the Ben-Hekku Thoth-Amon, also survived but perverted into an underground cult of death magic now known as the Cult of the Bloody Tongue.

The Faceless

The Faceless is a shadowy arcane organization whose expertise is in infiltration and assassination. Some members of the faceless are mages while others are monks and assassins, but all members of he faceless are said to be experts in disguise and shape changing. They work toward some mysterious goal only they understand.

Fireball Alliance

The fireball alliance is a loose organization of mages who live on the Rock of Bral. They have agreed to work together for the mutual defense of the Rock should it come under attack. Given the fact that the Rock of Bral is quite safe due to the Arcane, the Fireball Alliance is in fact mostly just a club in which members gather to occasionally share knowledge, but mostly to bicker and show off.

Guardians of the Veil

In the aftermath of the Twin Cataclysms, the Arcane instituted the Veil to prevent any further disruption to the dresium trade on Oerth. The Veil essentially quarantined the survivors on Oerth from any contact with the spacefaring civilization over their heads. In order to maintain the Veil, the Arcane created an organization known as the Guardians of the Veil. the Guardians of the Veil are charged with maintaining the Veil which means defending both against external intrusion and internal realization.

Ranger Knights

The Ranger Knights were founded in the aftermath of the Great War on Oerth thirty years ago. Because that war was precipitated by disputes over the dresium trade, the Ranger Knights were founded as a multinational organization granted control over the dresium trade routes. The Ranger Knights are charged with protecting this route for all trade caravans. To fund this protection, the Ranger Knights tax all caravans upon their arrival at the Citadel of the Arcane.
