States and Nations
- Kingdom of Aeldun Aeldun is The largest state in the west of mixed Keltic/Guldorian culture. Those of Guldorian ancestry tend to occupy the most elite positions.
- Kingdom of Grinnwald The kingdom of Grinnwald lies to the north of the kingdom of Aeldun, with which it has frequent conflicts. Although part of the “civilized” Guldorian culture, its proximity to the northern Guldorian tribes makes it a bit rougher around the edges than Aeldun.
- Imperium of Steel The Imperium of Steel is the interstellar empire of the goblinoid races. It is ruled by a council of warlords from the Gublonia system. The warlords spend as much time bickering with each other as planning conquests. Since the end of the Steel and Roses War, the Imperium has been largely peaceful or at least has existed in a state of detente with other nations.
- Kegbayo a city state of Zambian culture on the southern shores of the Myosian sea. Most dresium from the far south flows through this port.
- Kingdom of Kush The Kingdom of Kush is a large and powerful Zambian kingdom ruled over by the Swan King. It lies on the eastern shores of the Myosian sea. The Ben-Hekku originate in Kush but now train individuals from all over Oerth.
- Republic of Media The city-state of Media on the northern shores of the Hellenic sea is one of the greatest city states of the Tomani people. It is ruled by a “democracy” of citizens, but citizenship is only granted to a minority of the residents. It is also home to the Great Library, one of the largest holdings of knowledge in the known world.
- Duchy of Rauschedorf Once a vassal state to the Kingdom of Aeldun, the Duchy of Rauschedorf has been effectively independent since the events of the Great War, although the Duke of Rauschedorf still nominally swears fealty to the King of Aeldun.
- Realm of the Vanir The Realm of the Vanir is the interstellar empire of the elves. It is ruled by the Elvish queen from the Lothlorien system. In practice, the elvish systems within each system are ruled with a great deal of independence by prince and princesses. However, in times of need, the elves do unite under the banner of the queen.
- Stirilund Stirilund is a Guldorian realm to the far northwest, governed by a Jarl chosen by moot. It is the largest state made up of the “primitive” barbarian Guldorians. It varies between trading with and raiding the lands to the south.
- Theocracy of the Pale The Theocracy of the Pale is a space-born nation of human Pale located on one of the moons of Bazelpup. It is a highly militaristic and xenophobic society. Its ruler, the God-Empress, is treated as divine and legend holds that she freed her people from the influence of the yuan-ti serpentfolk after the Twin Cataclysms. The God-Empress is believed to reincarnate into a new body at the end of her life.
- Free City of Ukash a city state of Bakshuni culture on the western edge of the Myosian sea. The main rival to the power of Arkesh.
- Ventium The city-state of Ventium is one of the main rivals to Median power in the Hellenic sea. it is ruled by a tyrant selected by a military council and is famed for its military prowess. All young people of Ventium must serve in the military to gain citizenship.
- Alliance of Wessex The Alliance of Wessex is a Keltic state to the far west. Truly it is an alliance of various Keltic tribes in defense against their common enemy, the Kingdom of Aeldun. The alliance is maintained by a circle of druids. Allegedly, the Wessex Alliance has some contact with the mysterious high elven court of Lysandril.
- Empire of Xin The Empire of Xin is the far eastern realm that covers most of Xinnish culture. It is a powerful empire, but it has grown somewhat lazy and decadent over the years. Most of its attention is dedicated to fighting off a mix of Bakshuni and Xinnish barbarians from the west and north.
- Zami Alliance The Zami Alliance is a very loose-knit alliance between Zami settlements and colonies on Saurus and The Belt, as well as a few scattered colonies in the rings of Bazelpup. It mostly exists on paper, but a council of important figures can be convened on the Rock of Bral in extreme situations.
